Combines the best of MBCT & Relapse Prevention
HOW – Guided Practices to urge surf, develop insight & transform triggers into more skilful responses
MBRP is a form of treatment for those challenged by the likelihood of relapsing in regard to addictive behaviors – such as (but not limited to) alcohol, tobacco & other drugs, gambling, other behaviors where the person does not feel in control or whereby the behavior is causing disruption to activities of daily living, relationships &/or health.
The goal of mindfulness-based relapse prevention is to have a client develop awareness and acceptance of thoughts, feelings, and sensations, and utilize these as a coping mechanism when exposed to situations that may result in relapse. Learning specific relapse prevention strategies in conjunction with a client practicing mindfulness techniques allows an association to be formed between the two.
MBRP has been researched and proven more effective than traditional 12-step programs in reducing cravings and helping people achieve long-term recovery.
